"C'e l'abbiamo fatto!!!!!" [09 Jul 2006|03:50pm]
[ mood | energica ]

Italy has now won their 4th World Cup title. And deservedly so -- only two goals were scored on them, the entire tournament. One was a self-score (embarrassing, yeah) and the other was a fucking penalty shot in the beginning of the final. The Italian defense is stellar.

Other notes:
- Zinedine Zidane is a total nutcase. Headbutting is for the WWF, not for FIFA.
- Gianluigi Buffon is the best keeper in the whole goddamned world. Pele agrees with me, too.
- Henry admittedly displayed some spectacular footwork.
- Totti -- where the hell were you?

And also -- the Italians are farrrrrr more attractive than the French. They might be the hottest national team that played in the tournament, even. I mean -- Totti? Del Piero? Cannavaro? Gennaro Gattuso and his beautiful beard?

Insomma -- forza azzurri! Gli italiani sono i campioni del mondo -- bravissimi, ragazzi.

TV in the bedroom halves your sex life [19 Jan 2006|10:13am]
Mon Jan 16, 11:57 AM ET

ROME (Reuters) - Thinking of buying a TV for the bedroom? Think again -- it could ruin your sex life.

A study by an Italian sexologist has found that couples who have a TV set in their bedroom have sex half as often as those who don't.

"If there's no television in the bedroom, the frequency (of sexual intercourse) doubles," said Serenella Salomoni whose team of psychologists questioned 523 Italian couples to see what effect television had on their sex lives.

On average, Italians who live without TV in the bedroom have sex twice a week, or eight times a month. This drops to an average of four times a month for those with a TV, the study found.

For the over-50s the effect is even more marked, with the average of seven couplings a month falling to just 1.5 times.

The study found certain programmes are far more likely to impede passion than others. Violent films will put a stop to sexual relations for half of all couples, while reality shows stem passion for a third of couples.

Anyone have favorite biologists?

Naturalists/geneticists will work, too.

And it wouldn't hurt if they were hot.

Dudes, I just left my keys (housekeys in Seattle, housekeys in Portland, keys to the two u-locks attached to my new fancypants bike) dangling in the spokes of my bike, parked outside work.

For two hours.

I might need to get one of those dorky belt-loop-key-rings.

Sometimes I have problems functioning effectively. I need some life skills.

I have 4 papers to write this week

which is entirely MODF

but that's hardly consolation

at least the weekend will bring museum-going, alcoholic foods, and teatime
and one week closer to home

but there's some road to cover before that

I got pink haaaaaaaaaaair. (Pics to come.) The best thing is, people think that I care about their opinion of my appearance, so I've had the following comments from complete strangers:

"What have ya done to your haaaair?"
"Nice color. You made the right choice."
"What color is your hair?" ["Pink" I say]. "Oh. I thought it was orange."

I just wanna be your tugboat captain [22 Aug 2004|12:45pm]
Who knew victory could be so thrilling? I clogged, and then furiously plunged, and ultimately unclogged, our kitchen sink yesterday. Those final gurgles triggered an elation I've never felt before. That's a dangerous, beautiful thing.

back in the 213 [19 Aug 2004|07:34pm]
Question: why are milk crates so hard to clean? I mean, they are BOUND to stink, and there are all sorts of crevices for grody milk crust to hide. My hands smell like rotten milk, and I'm afraid that the crates aren't totally totally totally clean. OH WELL. At least I got free shelves. Hopefully they don't smell so bad that I have to throw them out and shampoo the carpet or something.

In other news: new digs are lovely with light. The shop down the street has pan dulce 4 for a buck. School is insane with tube tops and flip flops. I feel so disconnected. As always, Los Angeles leaves me feeling like Mersault: disoriented, sunburned, ambivalent.

I also totally fucking stubbed my toe walking to campus today. Now my foot achessss. As does my head. I would go to bed but it is only 7:45. I would eat (the mad beans and rice I made) but I ain't hungry. Rararrrrrr.
